Online Bankruptcy Pre-Discharge Personal Financial Management Course
This financial management course is designed to provide you with the knowledge to manage your finances and give you the tools to help build a brighter financial future.
Family Service Agency Inc., Consumer Credit Counseling Service (FSA-CCCS), is approved to issue certificates in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code. Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of an agency's services.
Federal legislation requires anyone seeking discharge from bankruptcy to first complete a Personal Financial Management Course with an approved provider. FSA-CCCS is approved to provide a personal financial management instructional course online to residents filing in all Judicial Districts (excluding Hawaii; Massachusetts; Oregon; South Carolina; Utah; Guam; Northern Mariana Islands; Puerto Rico; and Virgin Islands).
Online Pre-Discharge Bankruptcy Education is an interactive online course that you can complete at your own pace. You can leave the course and return where you left off as often as you desire. Once you complete the online course, including all required questions and worksheets, your certificate of completion will be sent to you promptly via your chosen method (email, fax, or mail) within two business days. You will only receive a certificate if you complete this course of instruction.
The cost for this course is $50.00 for a single or $65 for a joint filing. Both of you will be required to complete the two hour class. A student may be eligible for a fee waiver based on the lack of inability to pay. A fee is waived if the student's current household income is less than 150% of the poverty guidelines for a household or family of the size involved in the fee determination. The poverty guidelines are updated periodically by the US Department of Health and Human Services. To process a waiver, data is gathered. FSA-CCCS will go to the Money-in-Motion Website and create a student account. Once the student has read and agreed to the disclosure, the student will be furnished the user name and password. The student enters the Motion-in-Motion portal as an existing student and proceeds to the course. No one is denied service because of the inability to pay.
This educational program is designed to cover a variety of financial budgeting topics, assuring you have the tools necessary to build a strong financial foundation. During the course, you will receive tips and tools for wise money management and credit use. You will discover how to:

- Calculate net worth
- Create a livable budget
- Build a savings plan
