Service Definitions

Budget Counseling
A counselor assists in developing a plan to meet goals and needs for individuals and families, suggesting methods to improve money-spending habits.

Debt Management
When monthly living expenses and installment payments are higher than the income, a counselor will work to arrange a new repayment plan with the creditors. This allows monthly payments to be lowered due to an extension in the time allowed to repay the debts. This program is voluntary. A client must have enough money after basic expenses to make a workable plan.  To apply online for our Consumer Credit Counseling Service, simply click on the APPLY ONLINE button below and fill out the on-line form.

Fees
  • All budget and debt counseling sessions are free.
  • Debt Management Program - A basic monthly service fee ranging from $15 to $25 will be assessed for persons on the Debt Management Plan.

Most of our funding comes from voluntary contributions from creditors who participate in Debt Management Plans (DMP). Since creditors have a financial interest in getting paid, most are willing to make a contribution to help fund our Agency. These contributions are usually calculated as a percentage of payments you make through your DMP--up to 15% of each payment received. However, your accounts with your creditors will always be credited with one hundred percent (100%) of the amount you pay through us, and we will work with all your creditors regardless of whether they contribute to our Agency. If you see any discrepancy between the member agency payment and the amount posted on your statement, please bring it to our attention immediately and the matter will be promptly addressed.

Our DMPs service the dual role of helping you repay your debts and helping creditors collect the money owed to them.
